Advantages of Inverter Spot Welder

A spot welder is a kind of welder which works according to the following principle: with the help of two electrodes electric current is fed into a small area of two metals which are clamped together. The heat generated due to the passage of electricity through a very small area makes the metal melt at the area and as a result the two metals become welded. The electrodes are usually made of alloys of silver or copper.

An inverter spot welder is a variation of a spot welder with drastically reduced units, though it produces the same results with the help of increased power frequency. The power frequency is increased with the help of the on/off action of switches known as IGBTs. The biggest advantage of an inverter spot welder is that it is very small as compared to traditional welders and hence is easily portable. As a result they come in handy in narrow areas where portable generators, which are required to run most welders, are unable to fit. Also, an inverter spot welder is easy on the pocket as it runs on household current and hence proves to be extremely economical.

An inverter spot welder is widely used in households in a do-it-yourself manner. It is mostly used to bond products used in our everyday lives, such as, shovels, galvanized garden buckets, sheet pans etc. whenever there is a need for welding two very thin sheets of metals an inverter spot welder is used instead of traditional gas welders as thin metal sheets often fail to withstand the heat generated by traditional gas welders.
